Explanation:
The German term is pretty misleading, since it is neither a type of depreciation or amortisation, nor has it anything to do with savings...

I haven't found an established English term (the proposal is mine...) - this is probably due to the fact that the concept appears to be pretty unique to Germany. What it entails is an allowance to be set aside by small/medium-size enterprises or independent professionals for future investment. In the year when it is set aside, the allowance reduces taxable income.

When using it for the first time, I would refer to it as "allowance for future investment pursuant to section 7 (8) of the German Income Tax Act ('Ansparabschreibung')".
