machine transcription rate Explanation: Sounds like a test of the rate with which the person can transcribe dictation. Duration of the dictation is 3 minutes, and the speed is 60 syllables/minute. This course provides intensive practice in transcribing business correspondence from machine sources. recording Explanation: Aufnahme=introducing, recording, incorporation and many more recording of a 3-minute announcement into the device with a speed of 60 sillibles/minute. I would think that recording is the most appropriate here, because you generally don't speek of "typing an announcement" etc. Hope this helps, Lis Muret-Sanders |

typing Explanation: I agree with Parrot and UEL, and James can probably figure this out without any help, but this is bugging me: WORDS per minute (wpm) - syllables per minute might sound a bit funny to English speakers unfamiliar with big German compound words. (It may be unusual to type from speech (phonotyping?), but this is a common typing speed - 60 syllables/words per minute is much too slow for stenography or recording, or for normal human speech which is about 300) |
