See detail Explanation: This is more of an explanation than an answer: Business in German banks has shifted from "Bringgeschäft" (i.e. business coming to the bank in the form of people wanting to borrow money, etc.) to a "Holgeschäft" (i.e. the bank has to go out and actively look for new business or new customers). You might be able to work with a phrase such as "passive offering of services" vs. "active promotion of services" (Bringgeschäft vs. Holgeschäft resp.). These are merely suggestions which more or less paraphrase the underlying concept, but I hope they'll help steer you in the right direction. |

walk-in business Explanation: I completely agree with uel. There's a master's thesis called:Bank-Vertriebswege Schenzle Hermann 011/1 1982 Zwilling Vom Bringgeschäft zum Holgeschäft Außendienst als Vertriebsweg einer Bank and it emphasizes her line of argument. My translation is a more "pedestrian" one. Get it! :) ---- Did discover though that "Bringgeld" are/is deposits. |

2nd thought ... This website seems to also draw out that ad-hoc service which _can_ lead to more detailed consultancy or services is impromptu by its very nature. Not until the customer shows up in your lobby do you know what kind of business it will lead to. I still stick to "walk-in" for this.
