German term or phrase: Contradiction
Auf der Gewinnerseite waren besonders die mittleren Laufzeitenbereiche, wo es zu Renditerückgängen von über 50 Basispunkten kam.

Doesn't there seem to be a contradiction in the above sentence? How can one be the medium-term maturities be on the winning side by losing over 50 BP?

English translation:no contradiction
Explanation:
"Laufzeitenbereiche" would indicate fixed-income securities: if yields go down, prices go up: "With yields falling by more than 50 basis points, medium-term maturities were particularly strong."

-> ??? There's nothing about relative returns in here (this is bonds, not equities...) - there's a direct, inverse (albeit not linear) relationship between price and yield - contact me directly if you need more background info
