German term or phrase: Auf- und Ablauforganisation
Here is all the context I have:

"4. Umsetzung von Best Practices und Ableitung interner and externer Benchmarks

5. Change Management – Anpassung der Auf- und Ablauforganisation

6. Ableitung und Messbarkeit von Key Performance-Indikatoren"

The above phrases are three items from a list of operational/managerial (as opposed to technical) components of an upgrade to a SAP R/3 based corporate management system.

I think this is something quite different from the "die AUFBAU- und ablauforganisatorischen Regelungen" that uel and alpine discussed on 20 October, because further on in my translation the "Ablauf- und Aufbauorganisation" is also mentioned:

"Im Rahmen eines Workshops werden Ihre individuelle Markt- und Wettbewerbssituation, die Ablauf- und Aufbauorganisation rund um SAP R/3 und die Charakteristika Ihrer DV-Landschaft untersucht."

This is what we have so far:

Aufbauorganisation = company organization structure(s) / framework

Ablauforganisation = operational structure / operational methods and procedures / procedural organization

Auflauforganisation = soufflé organization or germination organization or riot organization or preparatory organization or what ????

Do you think the "Auf- und Ablauforganisation" in the case of the change management, means the "preparatory and conversion organization" or the "termination and operating structure organization" or the "preliminary and procedural organization" or the "preparatory and execution organization" or something else entirely?

Just a more or less educated guess. From what precious little reference material there is (and I'm sure you've checked most if not all of it already), it seems that Auflauforganisation is a staging / preparatory process in the workflow process (marshalling your forces or resources, if you will...). It would appear to be a genuine endeavor; for instance, I found a debitel help-wanted ad that was looking for someone with experience "im Bereich Auflauforganisation".

While the following reference does not go into detail explaining what exactly is involved in Auflauforganisation, it does show that it is part of business process reengineering, and that's why I thought that "resource and process organization" might be a possible translation.

I think my question was not very clear; the "casserole or soufflé organization" was my main problem. I am still confused about the difference, if any, between "Auflauforganisation" and "Aufbauorganisation" so I do not want to add anything to the KudoZ glossary. Matthew's fine search method turned up nothing here, which means the term is probably not SAP jargon. Uel was the only one to really attack that point, so that is where the points must go.

From the horse's mouth - the other obviously insightful and good contributions are obviously more original than just taking the search results from help.sap.com - but this ensures consistency with the language used by the vendor.

My 2 cents. The casserole organization is cute. :-)
