German term or phrase: Ablagenbuchhaltung
One of many corporate departments - this in a listing of departments and what kind of software they use. This department uses FAM, which I take it to be File Access Manager (see http://www.vwsolutions.com/productInformation.aspx?productId...)

This is some kind of filing/archiving dept., but the Buchhaltung confuses me a little. Is there a special term for this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions... and this is semi-urgent.

Clarification request(s) and response
Ted Wozniak: 3:14pm Sep 12, 2006: Another possibility is that it is a typo for ANlagenbuchhaltung (investments accounting)
Steffen Walter: 3:14pm Sep 12, 2006: Typo for A*n*lagenbuchhaltung? (The N is next to the B on the keyboard.)

filing department
Explanation:
could it not simply be the filing dept. (as you suggested)? I think that the "Buchhaltung" here is not necessary.
