Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
German term or phrase: reicht von ... über...
Context is: "Die Palette reicht dabei von kleineren Kosten- und Investitionsvorhaben über Entwicklungs- oder Instandhaltungsprojekte bis hin zu Großprojekten im Anlagen- und Maschinenbau." Not sure about the 'reicht von... ueber' bit. I've translated this as 'This can range from smaller cost and capital investment projects for development or plant maintenance projects...'. Can anyone please confirm if this is a correct interpretation?

English translation:ranges from ... to ...
Explanation:
The full German construction is "reicht von ... ueber ... bis ...", showing a wide range of items and hitting the "magic number" of three examples.

In English this is written as "ranges from ... to ... to ...". Other constructions are possible, of course.

NOTE: I just checked out the links to previous responses that Steffen pointed out. I feel that they are not correct, since they group two of the three items together, which the German construction does not do.

For instance, in one example, "von Milch ueber Butter bis hin zu Kaese" should be "from milk to butter to cheese" - the three nouns are exactly parallel.

Many thanks, Darin. I thought the two examples given elsewhere didn't suit so thanks for this confirmation. Laura
