ranges from ... to ... Explanation: The full German construction is "reicht von ... ueber ... bis ...", showing a wide range of items and hitting the "magic number" of three examples. In English this is written as "ranges from ... to ... to ...". Other constructions are possible, of course. NOTE: I just checked out the links to previous responses that Steffen pointed out. I feel that they are not correct, since they group two of the three items together, which the German construction does not do. For instance, in one example, "von Milch ueber Butter bis hin zu Kaese" should be "from milk to butter to cheese" - the three nouns are exactly parallel. |
