German term or phrase: Verwaltungsorientierung

A term found in a translation of educational certificates for a trainee psychologist. "Verwaltungsorientierung" is not a word found in any of my dictionaries - would "administrative training" be adequate? Or is there a more standard translation of the term in this field ("administrative orientation" sounds rather un-English to me).

I think your own initial instinct was correct. Depending on how detailed the training is it could also be 'introduction to administrative procedures' - 'Orientierung' does suggest it is more of an introduction.

In my opinion, Verwaltungsorientierung refers to the training these future psychologists need in the form-filling and record-keeping procedures that will form an important part of their work.

"administrative orientation" as such results in 2,440 hits in google. Among the first hits are .org, .gov, .us. Thus, your statement of 'sounds rather un-English' seems to be correct, I guess it sounds American.

"administrative orientation" psychologist: this one results in 374 google hits. This reference: www.bond.edu.au/employ/posdespdf/HSS/AdminOfficer.PsychClin... cites: "Provide a formal administrative orientation and induction to all Psychologist."
This is an Australian one, I guess they speak your type of English (more or less).
