disagree  Lena Nusselt: wouldn't that be "Besitzverschaffung an einer Finanzsicherheit"?

delivery of possession

Explanation:
(This is the translation given by Pons.)

I would spontaneously have suggested "obtaining possession", but the solution from the dictionary seems a lot more technical...

I understand "Besitzverschaffung" in this context to mean that in order for ownership to pass from one person to another, it is not necessary that the new owner actually has the object in his/her possession...

...just realized my explanation was a little odd. What I meant to say was that whereas with Eigentumsübertragung it is not necessary that the new owner actually has the object in his/her possession, this is then carried out by Besitzverschaffung.

agree  Teresa Reinhardt: Eigentumsübertragung is a legal act; Besitzverschaffung the concrete act of enabling the person to exercise the theoretical right; e.g., in cases where the seller is not willing

Explanation:
Just a try, this might be a nice way to explain it:
Indian law does not require that the assets are actually made available to the buyer for him to become their legal owner.
