(qualified) production assistant Explanation: I think this term can include pretty much any activity in a factory. But it is also a formal, though low-level, qualification and thus has a specific meaning in German which doesn't really exist in English. Something like the above or '(qualified) factory hand/operative'is the best I can do, I'm afraid.
