German to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs / birth certificate
German term or phrase:Taufe
This word is on a birth certificate. The word Taufe is pretty clear - baptism. But I am confused about how it is used:
Bescheinigung über Beurkundung eines Geburtfalles für die Taufe.
Does this mean for the baptism? Is this a common expression on a German birth certificate?
There was a time when German authorities were very fond of issuing many different kinds of birth certificates (Form E1, Form E2, Form Ea ) depending on what they were used for. In the Fifties, for instance, a special birth certificate was issued to nursing mothers so that they could collect their weekly nursing allowance!
So your type of certificate was issued to parents who were members of a church and who were planning to have their child baptized at some point.
All answers are excellent, so it was really difficult to decide who will receive the points.
@Johanna
Could you, please, post your answer? I know that you didn't offer a translation, but your explanation helped me the most.

certification for baptism purposes of the registration of a birth
Explanation: I'm guessing here from the limited context available, but it sounds to me as though this isn't the birth certificate proper but a document certifying that such a certificate exists (Bescheinigung einer Beurkundung).
I would assume that to have the child baptised you have to produce evidence that its birth has been registered, and this Bescheinigung for baptism purposes provides that evidence.

Thank you!
Notes to answerer
Asker: Almost like that. There is no Geburtskunde. So the Bescheinigung is the title of the document. Would you mind adding your explanation of different birth certificates to your answer? That is what really clarified the question for me.
