yes that's why I decided to go with "original copy" and "certified copy"
@Phil: I like that suggestion. It is only one person in this case, so I think I will go with his name. Why don't you put this in as an answer for grading?

if I recall correctly from personal experience, involves in effect an original of the document, plus a "beglaubigte Abschrift" i.e. a notarized transcript or copy. The language dates from the world before xerox etc.

I usually put the person's name if it's just one person, or "the parties" if it's more than one.

Guessing wrong, I did check the glossary, but "Copy for the person appearing" just does not sound right to me. I guess I should have mentioned that in my question

I'm guessing that you haven't checked the glossary, as we've had this word several times before.
