Hello Andrew: Thanks for your response. My decision was based on the following client feedback: "..... Also, der Diplomingenieur wird in Deutschland dem Master
gleichgesetzt. Man erhält ihn in der Regel nach 5 Jahren studienzeit
und er befähigt einem direkt die Promotion anzutreten (also genau wie
der Master, mit einem Bachelor kann man nicht promovieren).

Vielleicht könnten Sie des einfach so "lassen", allerdings noch eine
kleine Bemerkung dazuschreiben, dass der Grad einem Master entspricht.

So you have credited your German client with an MSc for his first degree instead of a humble BSc? I am sure he will be flattered and delighted.

I have seen DO NOT TRANSLATE! take the full four points on many occasions in the past, sometimes deservedly and sometimes less so, sometimes with well-founded evidence and sometimes with no backup at all or even with a spurious supporting case. Engineers are not really state-licensed. We travel and work in different countries. We might have a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering so we are Diplom Ingenieurs but we do not have to be licensed for the country/company we work for. E.g. special engineering license for Canada - you can join an engineering association. But basically as soon as you get your degree and have that lil silver engineering ring on your finger you are considered an engineer and you do not have to be licensed anywhere else to work.

Andrew, I don't want to fight with you over this, but please read what I wrote! I gave an example, not an authoritative, one-for-all solution, clearly marked by "z.B." and "oder so etwas". My answer to the question is still "stehen lassen", not a translation, and surely you cannot disagree with that?
