Clarification request(s) and response
Sigrid Junkermann: 4:06pm Nov 25, 2005: Acetessigsäuremethylester - sorry about the mixed up title:
is it methyl acetoacetate? Can anyone confirm?
Sigrid Junkermann: 4:20pm Nov 25, 2005: Should be methyl acetoacetate ester,as I was able to confirm, methyl acetoacetic ester has NO google hits.

Cilian O'Tuama: 4:23pm Nov 25, 2005: maybe leave the question open much longer next time? -
Sigrid Junkermann: 4:53pm Nov 25, 2005: Of course, you are right Cilian
Sigrid Junkermann: 12:22am Nov 26, 2005: Hi Ingo,
I thought I had done that, but if you were still able to do it, I guess, it did not go through, strange, but thanks.

methyl acetoacetic ester
Explanation:
It is indeed quite old terminology but still used.

Sigrid is right as well: methyl acetoacetate is another word for it:

Sorry that was my mistake, of course it should be methyl acetoacetate ester, as the first reference also shows.

Actually, I'll take that back: methyl acetoacetic ester (which does indeed have google hits, see the chembuyersguide link) is right, methyl acetoacetate ester doesn't make any sense. Meaning: methyl acetoacetate or methyl acetoacetic ester.
