Gabi François: 8:14am May 15, 2006: Hier eine Defition von Abbrand - Als **Abbrand** bezeichnet man in der Metallurgie den Verlust an Metall, der sich durch Verbrennen, Vergasen, Verspritzen, Verschlacken oder Verzundern ergibt. Daneben bezeichnet der Begriff auch den Rückstand beim Rösten schwefelhaltiger Erze. .... Letzteres wären dann die "roasting residues". Und Ersteres?
David Moore: 9:03am May 15, 2006: Hi Gabi, yes, the "Verlust" is metal burning off, vaporising, being oxidised, etc., generally as part of a manufacturing process; "roasting residues" can be likened to the residues you have to scrub off the walls of an oven after roasting a Sunday joint. -
