I've tentatively called this "oxidator gas", but haven't gotten any hits on the web. My Ernst does not even list "oxidator".

1.1.2 Erforderliche Bedingungen für das Auftreten einer Explosion
Um das Auftreten einer Explosion zu ermöglichen, ist es als Mindestvoraussetzung (d. h. notwendig aber noch nicht hinreichend) erforderlich, dass zur gleichen Zeit und am gleichen Ort drei Komponenten zugegen sind:
 Brennstoff
 Oxidatorgas
 Zündquelle
Eine Ausnahme stellen selbstzerfallsfähige Substanzen dar (z. B die metastabilen Moleküle Acetylen und Ethylen), in denen auch ohne Anwesenheit von einem Oxidatorgas eine Explosion auftreten kann (nicht Gegenstand dieser RPI).

Als Oxidatorgase treten i. a. nur die Elemente Sauerstoff, Fluor und Chlor entweder rein oder als Bestandteil von Gasgemischen z. B. Luft (21% Sauerstoff, Rest: Stickstoff und Spurengase) auf. Die Oxidatorgase können auch in Form von Verbindungen mit geringer Bildungsenthalpie vorliegen, so dass sie bei Anwesenheit von Brennstoffen leicht freigesetzt werden können (Beispiele: NF3, ClF3, BrF5, NO, N2O, NO2,).
