German term or phrase: 2,3-Endio-L-Gulonsäurelacton
Can someone conform whether that is
2,3-diketo-1-gulonic acid or literally
2,3-endiol-L-gulonic acid lactone?

2,3-endiol-L-gluconic acid lactone
Explanation:
I support your literal version, which I think is a reasonably valid, but a bit quaint name for ascorbic acid. An -l was missing from the original.

On the bottom left corner of the illustration at the linked page you will see the endiol moiety (-C(OH)=C(OH)-) just below the carboxyl group in the ascorbic acid structural formula.

Sorry, at the bottom right, I mean. It is late.

agree Gillian Scheibelein: gulonic; the endiol -C(OH)=C(OH)- is a tautomer of the ketone and is formed on cyclization
