The phrase occurs in the second sentence. Could someone help me with this whole sentence, please.

R.D. Shannon et al. [3,4], die in ihren Tabellen 1969 und 1970 unter dem Begriff „Effektive Ionenradien“ Einflüsse wie Kovalenz, Koordinationsverhältnisse, Spinkonfigurationen und andere berücksichtigten. Dabei wird der Goldschmidt´sche Einstieg in die Abfolge der Ionenradien über die Werte für O2– und F– übernommen.

might be possible. My preference would be to use "set" but "sequence" seems also to be possible.

Of the various models that have been proposed for silicates, the ionic one, as developed by Goldschmidt, is by far the simplest. Once a set of ionic radii has been chosen, simple rules allow prediction of the coordination numbers and the general type of structure of a compound of given chemical composition.
