Science - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng / Suspension assay
German term or phrase: Krt - log KBE(Ko) - log KBE(0)
The above equation is in a suspension assay similar to one in page 8 of the link I will give below. I know that "KBE" means "CFU", or "colony-forming units".

(The "t" is smaller and lower down than the "Kr", but I could not reproduce that here. Same goes for the 0s, as far as I can determine.

Link: http://www.falw.vu/dida/protocol/Incides_N_Mi_e_Schub_15F629...

Can anyone help me on how to translate this equation into English or give me a reference that would help me? I haven't been able to find a reference that would explain this, either in English or in German.

Thanks,

Stephen

microbial cell reduction (t) = log CFU(control) - log CFU(D)
Explanation:
microbicidal effectiveness:

Keimreduktion = microbial/bacterial cell redcution
t = Zeit = time (subscript)
KBE (koloniebildende Einheiten) = colony forming units
Ko = Kontrolle = control (subscript)
D = D-Wert = dezimale Keimzahlreduktion = D-value = decimal reduction time (subscript) - the time required at a certain temperature to kill 90% of the organisms being studied

e.g.
Bactericide activity was expressed as reduction factors, that is, logarithmic reductions in viable organisms:
Reduction factor = log10 CFU/mL (control) - log 10 CFU/mL (treated)

Explanation:
Here once more the corrected answer: According to the following reference, Krt means "mikrobiozide Wirksamkeit", i.e. microbicidal efficacy.
