Tech/Engineering - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
German term or phrase: ad 1000 L
What would be the translation and English abbreviation of the little word before volumes in chemical and biology texts?

E.g. PBS ad 0,5 L
Gereinigtes Wasser ad 1000 L

The only translation I have found translates it 'freely'.

Explanation:
While the Latin "ad" usually means "to" or "for", in this case I would change the structure to read "0,5 L of PBS" and "1000L of purified water".
"Ad" is also used to mean "in" or "per" when making a solution, i.e. the concentration, e.g. "xxx mg of yyy in/per zzz ml of water"
