Ich arbeite an Untertiteln für einen Film, d.h. Ausgangspunkt ist ein gesprochener, umgangssprachlicher Dialog, der möglichst so übersetzt werden soll, dass ein Kinobesucher den Sinn auf Anhieb versteht.

Kontext:
Ich brauchte nur zu sagen „Du bist schuld, weil du hübscher bist als ich“ – und fertig war die arme Depressive. Das war für mich auf alle Fälle die einfachste Variante, und du hast dir das brav unterjubeln lassen.
Translation:
I only had to say to myself, "it’s your fault, because you’re prettier than me" - and out came the poor depressive girl. This was definitely the easiest way for me and you played along dutifully.

Ich wäre sehr dankbar, wenn ich zu folgenden Punkten Feedback bekommen könnte:

Ich habe das "to myself" hinzugefügt, weil ich dachte, dass sonst der Eindruck entstehen könnte, die Aussage wurde der anderen Person tatsächlich mitgeteilt, was aber nicht der Fall ist. Ok?

"und fertig war": "and out came" ... ok?

"du hast dir das brav unterjubeln lassen": "you played along dutifully" schien mir den Sinn zu treffen und viel knapper als eine Passivkonstruktion. Hat jemand einen anderen Vorschlag?

Explanation:
ggf. auch "and you ate it all up" oder "you took it at face value" wobei mir die erste Variate am besten gefällt.

Mir gefällt auch das "out came" - alternativ fällt mir nur "voilà" ein, aber das ist für Untertitel wohl nicht so geeigent.
