German term or phrase: Blende

"Halten uns selbst die Blenden, knien den ganzen Tag im See...." Context is a description of a (difficult) film shoot, working w/limited resources. I know "Blende" as a camera aperture, but this must be some additional piece of equipment. Could it be the sort of big silver reflector that's often used on outdoor shoots?

A flat, rigid object used to shade the camera or part of the scene in the camera’s frame.
Other terms are "gobo" (keep light off of the camera) or "cutter" (shades part of scene), but "flag" is the more general term..

flag - A rigid, covered frame used to limit...light appearing in the camera’s frame. Flags may also be made out of cardboard, wood, etc., but commercial flags are generally covered with Duvetyne. May also be used as a gobo to keep light off of the camer
