German term or phrase: Muldenantenne
"Codiert/liest Handsfree-Datenträger in 122,88 KHz und
13,56 MHz sowie ISO 15693 -Technologie, druckt und liest Barcodetickets, Löschfunktion zum optischen Löschen von ThermoReWrite KeyCards, eingebaute Muldenantenne, 300 DPI Thermokopf"

Obviously some sort of aerial enabling the reader to read keycards or wristbands, but I'm not sure how to translate the "Mulden" bit.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

cavity antenna
Explanation:
Well, this is a sort of antenna which would fit the German. The reference below describes how such an antenna is used in a held-held device to measure radio-frequency radiation at close range - in this case from mobile phones. I would imagine that such an antenna might also be used in a card-reading device, as mentioned in your context.

BTW, I'd stick to "antenna" even for BE. I know "aerial" is more commonly used for TVs in the UK, but I think "antenna" is used universally for devices such as these.

recessed antenna

Explanation:
A bit of an educated guess, although it does get a reasonable number of hits on the Web (also "recessed antenna *ports* though). Here's one example:
----
For example, some radios have recessed antenna ports and other radios have antenna ports which fit into recessed antennas!
