German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Computers: Hardware / Simatic PCS7 | | German term or phrase: CPU granulare Meldnummernvergabe | Context:
Es sind 2 unterschiedliche Meldnummernvergaben möglich, zum einen die anlagenweite eindeutige Meldnummernvergabe und zum anderen die CPU granulare Meldnummernvergabe.
I'm thinking along the lines of "unique system-wide message numbering" and "CPU granular message numbering", but I'm not sure, especially about the latter, which doesn't google well at all. |

16 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +2 CPU granular signal number allocation
Explanation: Hi David!
The Siemens dictionary has "signal number" for "meldenummer" and I guess it's a question of "signal number allocation".
(Possible alternative: granular CPU signal number allocation).

Hi David,
Yes but there's plenty of hits for "granular allocation". And I just found something about CPU message number on the siemens website (I just googled "cpu" + "message number"):

Asker: Thanks Aidan! The only slight problem with that is that this text refers to "Meldungen" and "Signale" as 2 (slightly) different things, sometimes even in the same sentence, so I expect it's best to distinguish between the two as "messages" and "signals".
Asker: It was more the "CPU granular" I'm not too sure about. The only relevant hit I get, apart from this page now, is http://www.e-technik.fh-lausitz.de/~slaass/Et/ps7phesa.pdf but nothing else, and that file is in German.
Asker: Oh, and there's also a screenshot of the dialog box for these settings, as I just discovered, and the tab where this is set is called "Message numbers".
Asker: Thanks for the addendum, which I hadn't previously seen ;-)
Asker: It's described in a similar way here:
'Activate the "Assign unique message numbers CPU-wide" option in the "Message number assignment selection" dialog box.',
'If you use CPU-oriented message number assignment, such overlapping does not occur.'
Cf. http://tinyurl.com/nj7b2t although in fact my doc's screenshot also answers all my questions :-)
