neutral  Languageman: As I understand it, in the US quite is used in the sense of "absolutely", however in the UK "quite" means "to a certain degree", so this needs to be used with care in this type of usage.

significantly is certainly an elegant suggestion.

Here, in this case it is a deciding factor and hence would like to use a word which reflects something more than "significantly" though not necessarily may not be elegant.
