Tech/Engineering - Computers: Software
German term or phrase: zum Erfolg kommen
"Wer unter dieser überarbeiteten Anwendung schnell zum Erfolg kommen will, sollte zum Umstieg oder Einstieg etwas Geduld mitbringen."

Text relates to a revised version of a software application (Excel). I understand that "zum Erfolg kommen" means "to reach success" but I wonder if it could mean "quickly get to grips with" or "get to grips with quickly" in the above context? (Note: the style of this text is pretty informal)

agree  Paul Merriam: and it's achieving success, probably in something other than using the software.

to reach proficiency

Explanation:
Success with a certain application is actually one's level of proficiency with that application. I think that's what's missing in the German, success is a very broad term, whereas proficiency is more specific and to the point

Example sentence(s):
  • Patience on the part of the user is required to reach proficiency with this revised version.
