I can fund numerous different translations of Hausnetz (e.g. on http://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?sourceoverride=... ) but I suspect that it may actually simply mean LAN in my context. e.g.:

"Es ist möglich, die Switches mit einem Uplink in das Hausnetz zu versehen und damit den Kontakt zu bereits existierenden NTP-Servern im Haus des Kunden zu verbinden.
...
Auf dem Port, das zum Hausnetz verbindet, hat der Switch eine IP aus dem Hausnetz."

Asker: Exactly, I was only looking at Linguee as a guide. This has nothing to do with home networks, this is, as I unfortunately omitted to mention earlier on, about router control system used in TV & radio broadcasting.

Asker: Yes, that was my other main candidate too. Why would a German author not use the word Intranet though, if that is what is meant? It strikes me as perfectly common usage, in this part of Germany at least.
