I'm sure there is a simple answer to this, but it doesn't seem to be an obvious literal translation such as "file pots" or "file containers".

Explanation: I have seen Filetoepfe used before in German! An amusing term. As far as I am aware CATIA (only seen V5, not sure about V4 but presume the same - I do know the V4 server only ran on Unix and not Windows), like many CAD systems, uses a database to reference files which otherwise have names that are incomprehensible, so presumably any search would actually be on the database itself, not the filestore (which, incidentally, is what I would translate Filetoepfe as).
