Hi everyone, I'm translating a text about electronic control units in cars and need some help with this term. Can anyone help?

English translation:emergency shutdown

Explanation:
If there is a fault in the system (electronics) an emergency shutdown may result. The ECU must be tolerant to such an event even if the shutdown occurs whilst being programmed (written to).

It usually relates to power being interrupted i.e. the electric circuit being broken e.g. due to the ground (Masse) cable being detached when the battery is removed.
