German to English translations [Non-PRO]
Marketing - Computers (general) / article about the millennium bug
German term or phrase: unsere gute Frau
Appears in the following sentence :

" Und wie soll der wissen, das unsere gute Frau 1891 zur welt gekommen ist ?"

Unsere gute frau is a German saying, the only thing I can think of is " our dear lady"

And how could it ( not "he" as it is referring to a computer )know that our dear lady was born in 1891?

Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you in advance :)

English translation:the lady/woman in question
Explanation:
this particular woman

I don't think anything with 'our' or 'dear' works in English

On second thought, you might also be able to use "the dear girl" or something along those lines just for the humor

agree  Helen Shiner: With your first suggestion. The dear girl might be a little confusing. The humour is in the sentiment and doesn't really need to be amplified in my view.
