German term or phrase:Jahrgang 91
The sentence is :
" In Deutschland erhielt eine Frau mit Jahrgang 91 zum Geburtstag 1995 ueerraschende Post"
"Jahrgang" is usually means year, as in "year of graduation "etc. I cannot say however " A woman of the year of 91 " in English. As far as I can see I can only say " A woman born in 91". Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks :)

I think you have arrived at the perfect trranslation. Sorry Roland, but I disagree with th "surprise letter" suggestion and think "surprising letter" fits the bill much better.
I agree with your own suggestion (and Roland's), maybe with apostrophe - A woman born in '91 (as opposed to 91 A.D. - which would throw up a whole lot of other issues!! :-))

The article is supposed to be a humorous attempt at describing a serious problem affecting computerss before 2000. It is therefore an expressive text so I need to find a suitable equivalent for " Jahrgang.

See the asker's previous question. Since the question is about the millennium bug, I suspect it's about the fact that hte computer didn't recognise she was born in in *18*91, so perhaps she received a letter inviting her to apply for primary school, or get a tetanus injection.
