German term or phrase: Brettstapelbauweise
Here's the context: "1995/96 wurde die Volksschule in Brettstapelbauweise erweitert". It's about uses of wood.

I am proofreading a document, and the translator has come up with "stacked-board construction". However, I am unsatisfied with this, because it appears from Googling that "stacked-board construction" is to be found in historic buildings (e.g. flour mills in the US), whereas "Brettstapelbauweise" is said to be a recent innovation. So anyone know what it's called in English?

stacked and screwed planks /nailed laminated timber
Explanation:
here are two possible solutions, which have been used by engineers working with it.
Descriptive is the "stacked and screwed planks " that Julius Natterer uses on his website. This is quite authoritative as he invented this form of building technology. There might be a more commen term though.

so in 1976 they were already rehabilitating these bridges, which were built from nail-laminated wood

agree  Tony M: I'd go for 'nailed laminated' or 'nail-laminated', by analogy with 'glue-laminate' techniques

-> thanks Tony, yes, nail-laminated is the most common.
