German term or phrase: Fachkaufmann der Handwerkswirtschaft (HWK)
Translating a certificate for a master mason:

"NN hat die Prüfung zum Fachkaufmann (HWK) bestanden"

And in his CV: "Fortbildung zum Fachkaufmann der Handwerkswirtschaft"

The usual suspects haven't helped me much. I liked the idea of 'proficiency certificate in ...' given in some of the forums. But I'm drawing a blank with 'Handwerkswirtschaft'.

Maybe "Proficiency Certificate in the Skilled Trades Sector"? (don't like business economist)

Thanks in advance!

(Senior) Commercial Clerk in the Skilled Trades Sector
Explanation:
A Fachkaufmann is someone who has completed an kaufmaennische/commercial Ausbildung/apprenticeship and is thus a commercial clerk or possibly a senior commercial clerk, if there is only a differentiation between "senior" and "junior". Senior would certainly sound better on his cv!

You might also say "NN successfully completed a commercial apprenticeship in the skilled trades sector".
