German term or phrase: Aufdoppelung
This for a translation for various Eternit roofing diagrams, such as :

http://www.eternit.at/showpic.php?file=uploads/pics/08_RH_fa...

I'm looking for a roofing term that means the battens are double, but are NOT counterbattens.

Can Aufdoppelung also mean 'double batten'?
(I know that's a stretch -- the definitions of 'double batten' that I've found say the battens are laid Next To each other. But I was wondering if the meaning could be stretched to mean a double (-layered) batten.)

I've Googled quite a few variations, incl. double top (1 Google hit from NZ/AUS), double layered, double-layer, double laminate, doubling layer, SECOND LATH, etc. & ran across nothing that seemed to be what Eternit shows.

Any takers who know the roofing industry?
Thanks as always for your generous support!

Explanation:
This seems to be a generic term in the building industry (see e.g.

Aufdoppelung

and other sites where it refers to applying an additional layer of wood, concrete, etc. to raise, strengthen or restore a surface.

In the specific instance of the drawing you cite, it appears to me that the Aufdoppeling is the additional layer of something placed on top of the Rhombusstein (top roof tile) to raise the top face of the ventilation grid to a level flush with the top face of the the ridge board, and possibly to provide a cushion between the ventilation grid and the Rhombusstein.

Thanks, Ken, I can only agree… My question said basically the same thing. (Except, pls note, the "Aufdoppelung" is not on top of the tile, it's on top of the first batten -- pls see the diagram. Or was that a typo?)

In another example, one online glossary lists:
Aufdoppelungsbrett = batten
Yup -- generic, multipurpose... frustrating.

Additional rewording of the – as you correctly point out – generic definition doesn't change the dilemma:
What's the concise Engl. roofing term for Aufdoppelung?
And can Aufdoppeling mean "double batten"?

I've solved it myself, by calling this particular diagram entry an "Additional 4-cm batten"
But many thanks for your time, kind efforts and encouragement!
