I'm translating a product description of this item, but I have no idea what it is!

"Küchenprofi 808162827 Spätzleass 18/10 Edelstahl inklusiv Teigschaber für Töpfe ø 20 - 28 cm"

spaetzle/noodle maker
Explanation:
This is a metal sheet with holes which fits over your pan of boiling water. You place the spaetzle dough onto it and push it through the holes with the scraper and the individual pieces of spaetzle drop into the boiling water and cook.

I would suggest calling it just a spaetzle maker - like a pasta maker

agree  Birgit Gläser: but I would lose the "dumpling" and insert "Spätzle" in the appropriate Engilsh spelling

-> yes, you are right Spaetzle is more appropriate/thanks

neutral  phoeberuth: Definitely not 'dumpling'. Some other translator has obviously got it wrong on the site you quote. Dumplings are 'Klösse' or 'Knödel'.

-> I agree that dumplings is misleading here; hadn't seen that right away :(

-> thanks, but I guess Spaetzle should have been kept in the translation ; dumplings are misleading

Spätzle-Ass - I would recommend: Spätzle-Ace

Explanation:
Ass (= ace) might be quite a thigh-slapper in English speaking countries and should be localized.

Spätzle-Ass is the proper name / product name of this German Dumpling Sieve (yes, those are dumplings rather than noodles because the dough is not rolled but shredded into little lumps).

"Küchenprofi Spätzle-Ass (German Dumpling Sieve)

Imported from Germany! There is nothing like homemade spätzle. This Spätzle maker makes it easy to treat your family and guests to homemade spätzle. The lid fits on pots from 20cm –26cm diameter. It's made of 18/10 stainless steel and is dishwasher proofed. The holes are approx. 0.25" in diameter. Spatula is included.

neutral  Jutta Scherer: Agree with your translation but not your comment, Nicole: in my understanding, a dumpling is associated with something roundish, but what comes out of the Spätzle maker usually has a longish shape reminding of pasta (as opposed to hand-made Spätzle).

agree  Ramey Rieger: In the Joy of Cooking, spätzle are referrred to as dumplings, as the cooking method and batter are similar, only the shape is different.
