German to English translations [PRO]
Cosmetics, Beauty / hairdressing
German term or phrase: Deckhaar
My context is a list of models, or more accurately model types, for a hair stylists' training session:

Modell 4: Kurzhaar, langes Deckhaar

I know what it means, but suspect that those in the know have a more elegant way of putting it than "long on top" ;-)

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Ian

CHRICKNIC: 2:57pm Feb 1, 2006: Ian, I did not find anything that sounded right. You may want to check out this site - they never mention "long on top" or anything like it. http://www.leestafford.com/uk/thelook/glossary/#gloss_a
They say something about "protective layer"...Good luck -
Ian M-H: 3:12pm Feb 1, 2006: Thanks everyone for the input thus far (and for the link, Nicole).

Thanks. There's not going ot be one correct translation for all contexts, but the answers have reassured me that I hadn't failed to find a Fachbegriff known only to hairdressers and their clients.
