I know what it means of course but I just can't seem to come up with a good expression in English.

Clarification request(s) and response
xxxFrancis Lee: 2:28pm Dec 8, 2006: There are a number of very viable suggestions down there. Can you provide some more context?
Niamh Piel: 2:49pm Dec 8, 2006: That's all the context there is on that point. The rest of the text concerns issues specific to the company. -
xxxFrancis Lee: 3:01pm Dec 8, 2006: After waiting for further context, I just invested a bit of time in an answer, only to see it had been closed in the meantime. Could you please reopen this question? ;-)

No, I don't insist on the "finally" - hence, it is in brackets....

recovery

Explanation:
Of course, "den Anschluss schaffen" is more commonly seen in the sense of "catching up" with rivals. But in this case - as correctly interpreted by others - it's about recovery. I think this is the key word here, hence the for me unusual CL4.

This article is awash with the term "recovery"

In your case, something along the lines of:
- Europe's recovery has been notable
