agree  TonyTK: Or the perhaps snappier "hidden champions"

-> Champions is a good word - you should post your suggestion!// Tony, calls are getting louder for you to post your own suggestion!! (see the "hidden champions" link posted in Orla's agree to me, seems to fit perfectly)

neutral  gangels: 'hidden champions' is MUCH better, 'stars' doesn't really fit here

-> Well Tony should really post his own suggestion now. Personally I think a combination would be nice "unsung champions"

agree  orla: stars works for me... but would maybe reorganise the sentence - why not unsung heroes, or less dramatic, quiet achievers...? ps like unsung champions too ;) PPS tonyTK u should post hidden champions!http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidden_Champions

...of quiet achievers

Explanation:
Just an idea after thinking about it a while, maybe easier to fit in with the business context - not sure if 'is the land of quiet achievers of/' is not too much of a mouthful but maybe you can work it or rewrite it somehow...
The quiet achievers of the business world, Germany's SMBs have...
etc.
