Now that I know, I'm even more confused! My "instinct" says it's referring to the diversity of industrial interests OR the complexity of (global) industries themselves, but you already know that. I truly wish you inspiration and GOOD coffee.

Thank you for your suggestions. Both ideas had crossed my mind, hence the reason I asked the question. I am unsure whether this refers to the complex nature of the industry (more in line with Wendy's suggestion), or the actual composition of the industry (as Brigitte suggested). And yes Brigitte, the whole text is somewhat 'verunglückt' - it is littered with spelling mistakes, unfinished sentences, copy and paste errors, missing punctuation...That doesn't make the job any easier unfortunately ;-)

"Dies geschieht" refers to the fact that an increasing number of countries are becoming involved in the creative industries debate. Hope that helps ;-)

Ja, damit hatte ich ebenfalls ein Problem - ich habe es im Sinne von "trotz der Tatsache, dass ein Branchenkomplex existiert,...." gesehen.
Die andere Möglichkeit ist natürlich es als Gruppe zu sehen - stimmt! Habe zu kompliziert gedacht, lol (die Branche hat nämlich in der Tat Komplexe, das ist eine aktuelle Diskussion).
