German term or phrase: Branchenrendite
Die Ökosteuerreform hätte seit ihrer Einführung (1999) die deutsche Glasindustrie jährlich zusätzlich mit 65 Mio. EUR belastet (entspricht ca. 25% der Branchenrendite).

Branchenrendite = the industry's returns? or have you got better ideas?

I think you're quite right
Explanation:
I think it means returns (or possibly even profits) in the glass industry. Not revenues, as it is generally expressed as a percentage.

Doesn't seem to be a very frequent term tho...

Branch Profits or Yield

Explanation:
The German glass industry has an turnover of ca. 7,9 Mrd (1993).
25 % of that would be ca. 2 Mrd - but we are only talking about a burden of ca. 65 Mio! I would be inclined to say a reduction in the profits or yield due to increased taxation.

disagree Ralf Lemster: "Branch" is a false fried - in this context, "Branche" refers to a specific industry, or sector

-> Sounds like splitting hairs, but OK then, industry profits or yield!
