German to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Education / Pedagogy / Coaching Course | | German term or phrase: Abschlussarbeit | This should not be difficult but what I have found in proz com and dictionaries to date does not sound right. This is not "Abschlussarbeit" in the academic/university/school sense. In the context of what I have to translate it is listed among other requirements for obtaining a certificate that one has successfully completed a coach training course.
Participants need to have attended the entire course, created a marketing plan, reviewed some books and they must also have submitted an **Abschlussarbeit**.
I imagine this is some kind of dissertation but "dissertation" sounds like something from a university to me.
All alternative suggestions welcome or is dissertation the best option?

| | final assignment | Explanation: The Coaching Academy (UK) for instance speaks of a post-course module, final written paper and assessments, so this would be my suggestion.

I would be wary of choosing paper or essay personally. It is just as likely to be the completion of a coaching journal or some other assignment which may be very practical.

| Grading comment I think this is a good option, especially because it leaves open the possibility that the "Arbeit" might be practical, as Helen points out. Many thanks to everyone. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
