"Im Fokus der Fakultät stehen künftig vor allem fakultätsgemeinsame Forschungsaktivitäten entlang von Querschnittsthemen."

Am thinking "cross-faculty" for fakultätsgemeinsam, "trans-sectoral issues" for Querschnittsthemen, but the "entlang" bit has me stumped.

Ok - I just mentioned US English because I wasn't sure if it was an AE or BE thing - I normally translate Fakultät as department

disagree  Steffen Walter: Unlike "intra", "inter" implies projects not within a single faculty but across several faculties, which is not meant here in my opinion (see discussion). (And you wouldn't use "cross-cutting" either in this case.)

  -> Thanks, Steffen, sorry, of course I meant intra. Fast typing...Cross-cutting issues I think is fine in an educational or social sciences context.
