Struktur der Forschungsförderorganisationen

Es werden drei große Finanzierungsfamilien unterschieden:
o Die Menschen
o Die Infrastrukturen
o Die Tätigkeit

Personal sind einerseits hauptberuflich arbeitende Forscher und lehrbeauftragte
Forscher (Beamte):

o Einstellung und Beförderung durch Auswahlverfahren, basierend auf der
o Ausbildung, der wissenschaftlichen Arbeit, dem vorgeschlagenen Projekt, stark
selektive Auswahlverfahren (5%) (CNU, CN + lokale Kommissionen)
o Zwei-/vierjährliche Beurteilung der Arbeit der Forscher
o Indienststellung in Instituten und **angeschlossenen Abteilungen**
o Die entsprechenden Stellen werden vom Ministerium/Einrichtung geschaffen

Explanation:
There's not a precise equivalent of an "An-Institut" in English, as far as I know, and I guess that "angeschlossene Abteilungen" are more or less the same as An-Institute. Often one just reads that an institute or department is simply "part of" a university or (larger) institute.

"Associated" doesn't mean exactly the same as "angeschlossen", of course, but it might do the trick here.
