Ist der Waggon in Bewegung, rotiert der Magnet mit der Achse und läuft somit an der Sensorfläche des Kilometerzählers vorbei. Dabei induziert er im Kilometerzähler Wechselspannungsimpulse, die für die Erfassung der Laufleistung gezählt werden. Zusätzlich wird durch die Wechselspannung die nötige Energie zum Betrieb des Kilometerzählers bereitgestellt. Der Zählerstand wird in einem internen Speicher abgelegt.


Der Speicher kann mit einem Lesegerät bei stillstehendem Waggon ausgelesen oder ** beschrieben ** werden. Dazu speist das Lesegerät nach dem RFID-Verfahren drahtlos Energie in den Kilometerzähler ein. Gleichzeitig wird der jeweilige Befehl zum Auslesen oder Beschreiben gesendet.

I find "recorded" in my rororo Computer-Englisch (can you record a memory?). It could be "recorded to" or "written to", even. But it could be something else again.
