the term "frequency dependent" has to of course be included. The tricky part, I thought, was whether "discharge circuit" really fit the bill. I am glad my suggestion was helpful.

Explanation:
Kontext: Frequenzüberwachung in Stromversorgungsnetzen

Wird das Stromnetz überkritsch belastet, erfolgt ein sogenannter Lastabwurf (load shedding; beabsichtigte Abschaltung von Verbrauchern, um einem Blackout/Zusammenbruch des Versorgungsnetzes vorzubeugen). Die Abschaltung geschieht entweder automatisch (automatic load shedding) oder - sofern genügend Zeit für eine optimierte bzw. gezielte Lastabschaltung verfügbar ist - manuell (manual/selective load shedding).

Zur Erkennung von Überlastungssituationen wird u.a. die Netzfrequenz kontinuierlich überwacht. Unterschreitet diese einen kritischen Wert (z.B. 49 Hz), sorgt eine frequenzabhängige Entlastungsschaltung, d.h. ein Frequenzrelais ((under-)frequency load shedding system; frequency relay; load-shedding relay) ggf. für die automatische Abtrennung von Verbrauchern.

  -> The term "discharge circuit" is very common, but I was not sure whether it fully applied here. I did not think that frequency dependence was an issue in this context.
