German term or phrase: Kaltlichtkabel
Kaltlichtkabel dienen zur Übertragung der Lichtenergie von einer Kaltlichtquelle auf ein Endoskop.

Virtually all the references on "cold light cables" found on Google are from German sites. Would fiber optic cables be the correct term?

For the construction of the optical fiber cable (or called Cold light cable) see the following Wikipedia article:

Design
A multi-fiber cable In practical fibers, the cladding is usually coated with a layer of acrylate polymer or polyimide. This coating protects the fiber from damage but does not contribute to its optical waveguide properties. Individual coated fibers (or fibers formed into ribbons or bundles) then have a tough resin buffer layer and/or core tube(s) extruded around them to form the cable core. Several layers of protective sheathing, depending on the application, are added to form the cable. Rigid fiber assemblies sometimes put light-absorbing ("dark") glass between the fibers, to prevent light that leaks out of one fiber from entering another. This reduces cross-talk between the fibers, or reduces flare in fiber bundle imaging applications.[1]

Left: LC/PC connectors
Right: SC/PC connectors
All four connectors have white caps covering the ferrules. For indoor applications, the jacketed fiber is generally enclosed, with a bundle of flexible fibrous polymer strength members like Aramid (e.g. Twaron or Kevlar), in a lightweight plastic cover to form a simple cable. Each end of the cable may be terminated with a specialized optical fiber connector to allow it to be easily connected and disconnected from transmitting and receiving equipment.

Another similar term is "Fiberoptic light cable"

During shoulder arthroscopic surgery, a fiberoptic light cable was disconnected from the scope and placed on a drape covering the patient. The smell of smoke was noted in the room and a slight burn on the drape was seen under the fiberoptic light cable.

The term "fiber optic cable" considered by Richard Stephen in the Discussion is a more general designation (therefore more frequent), but used mainly for telecommunication.

Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber.
:
Optical fiber was successfully developed in 1970 by Corning Glass Works, with attenuation low enough for communication purposes (about 20dB/km), and at the same time GaAs semiconductor lasers were developed that were compact and therefore suitable for transmitting light through fiber optic cables for long distances

neutral  Richard Stephen: I think I'd be pretty wary of terminology taken from a site that spells Coldlightcable together and capitalized for no reason, as well as from German or Italian sites.

-> You are right, insofar it concers the spelling. I wouldn't write it like that, neither. But you can found a lot of other reliable references above.

Reference: optic fibre cable

Reference information:
Optical fiber is also used in imaging optics. A coherent bundle of fibers is used, sometimes along with lenses, for a long, thin imaging device called an endoscope, which is used to view objects through a small hole. Medical endoscopes are used for minimally invasive exploratory or surgical procedures. Industrial endoscopes (see fiberscope or borescope) are used for inspecting anything hard to reach, such as jet engine interiors.
