German term or phrase: Sparwechselschaltung
So Wechselschaltung is when you have two switches for one light, but how is Sparwechselschaltung different? It has its own Wikipedia page but I don't understand the distinction...

"Folgende Installationsschaltungen wurden montiert:

Ausschaltung,
Serienschaltung,
Wechselschaltung,
Sparwechselschaltung
in Kombination mit Steckdosen"

Thanks

traveler {connection, circuit, system}

Explanation:
Reading the various Wiki entries in English and German, it appears that this is the traveler system, the Hamburger Schaltung equates to the Carter system (both prohibited) and the Wechselschaltung equates to the alternative system (California 3-way).
The generic term for all of them is "multiway switching."

Apparently, it is called "Spar..." because it saves using a wire. Go figure.
