see below Explanation: Netzbetrieb (Context!): power systems operation [if by the utility company] (Siemens, FWB Energie- und Automatitiserungstechnik), mains operation [if by the user’s equipment] (Ernst,m EW. Der industriellen Technik) LKW: (Context!): AltaVista (German) >>+lkw +kraftwerk<< 410 pages found, e.g.: Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke http://www.lkw.li/Stromversorgung/text/samina.html Lastkraftwagen (in Verbindung mit Kraftwerken) http://www.berlinonline.de/wissen/berliner_zeitung/archiv/19... http://benetton.dkrz.de:9999/greenpeace/0221.html http://www.swd-ag.de/virtuell/werksfuehrung/kraftwerk_garath... BUT I CAN’T RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT “L” STANDS FOR A TYPE OF “KW” (KRAFTWERK) PSW: Pumpenspeicher[kraft]werk (Bertelsmann, Lexikon der Abkürzungen) see above |

see below Explanation: Tom seems to be on the right track, with PSW being Pumpspeicherwerk = pump storage power station (ie., used with off-peak power to pump water into a lake or large holding basin and then used to generate electricity when needed at peak-demand. Refer to PSW Geesthacht near Hamburg. LKW has, in this case, nothing to do with trucks. It is just the plain old Leistungskraftwerk (= power station). hth wolfgang |
