German term or phrase: Potential gegenüber Erde
The text below is an extract from a text about potential induced degradation in solar generators. Does "Potential gegenüber Erde" simply have the same meaning as "Erdpotential" and, if so, would the translation "earth potential" suffice?

Der Solargenerator weist bereits bei offenen Plus- und Minusverbindungen ein Potential gegenüber Erde auf.
The solar generator already has earth potential with open positive and negative connections.

Many thanks in advance!

potential to earth/ground

Explanation:
"gegen" and "gegenüber" have the same meaning in this context. This is translated by "to" according the International Electrical Commission, see below:

EN voltage to earth during a short-circuit
voltage to ground during a short-circuit (US)
voltage between a specified point and reference earth, for a given location of the short-circuit and value of short-circuit current
