I wondered about organic growth too - but what would be the alternative to organic growth when you're talking about a market rather than a company? Surely all market growth is organic?

In business contexts, this phrase is generally used to mean the opposite of "through mergers/acquisitions" - i.e., natural growth which the company achieves "on its own" (sometimes also referred to as "organic" growth or "go-it-alone" development or strategy)

You are right, it is very colloquial. But as Bernd pointed out, in this case "gehen" is used in the sense of "to work, to function, to be possible/feasible"

Gehen ist often used in the meaning of funktionieren (to work) but this sentence sounds a bit 'strange', to say the least ...
